They call it the Windy City, and it’s one of my favorites! I recently got to visit Chicago, but unfortunately my visit was short and sweet and lasted only a day. However, I tried to make the best of my stay.
We arrived in Chicago on Wednesday night and checked in at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel. The hotel is old but well maintained and the staff was very friendly and eager to help. The room was clean with a renovated bathroom which is always nice. We were only going to stay there for a night so this hotel was perfect and inexpensive for that.
My favorite thing to do whenever I find myself in a city, is to explore and find cute food places!
Yolk, 355 E Ohio St
This place offered a variety of healthy options and I would definitely recommend both the meals we tried. Get a South Beach, a pineapple bowl with greek yogurt, raisins, seasonal fruit, granola, and a chocolate chip muffin side, if you want something fresh and sweet. The Iron Man Omelet, which contained egg whites, mushrooms, mashed avocado, tomatoes, onions, green peppers with a side of toast or muffin, is also a great option.
Shake Shack, 12 S Michigan Avenue
I would recommend getting a vanilla milkshake or fresh lemonade, cheeseburgers, and crinkle cut bacon on cheese covered fries. Yum!
Given that I only had a few hours to wander around the city, I didn’t get to see much; however, it was a beautiful day and I walked down the Magnificent Mile, did a little bit of shopping on Michigan Avenue, walked along a small part of the Chicago Riverwalk, and took goofy pictures of my reflection on the Chicago Bean at Millennium Park.
Overall, it was a day well spent and I can’t wait until the next time I get to visit this beautiful city again!
